Its Not The Domain Name Which Makes a Site Successful!
I’ve been reading lately in different forums many controversial replies to a question like “What domain names would you register if you were back in 1990″. I don’t expect everyone to be a domainer and know the value of a domain name however many (if not all) of the replies were either Google.com , Yahoo.com , Facebook.com or even Twitter.com
In this article I would like to emphasize the fact that successful entrepreneurs build successful sites, despite the domain name used. It is true that a premium domain name which contains your main keyword would only bring positive impact on your rankings however with the actual social media buzz its not a big factor. Have a look at the following domain names and tell me what you see?
- YouTube
- Yahoo
- MySpace
- eBay
- Amazon
- PayPal
- Flickr
I’m sure no one would even think of purchase the above domain names if they weren’t huge corporations as they are today. Let this alone, Twitter.com has been for sale in 2004 so why nobody registered it? Because it was worth peanuts if undeveloped.
Twitter team bought it, developed it and here they are today (even though they lack security & hosting but thats another scenario)
Conclusion
While I was thinking for the conclusion, the following speech came to my mind. Achilles (Brad Pitt) in Troy movie speaks to his soldiers

They were just a few soldiers, did they have advanced technology? No! Did they have lethal weapons? No, all they had was their spirit and the good will to fight and succeed and they did it, they achieved their objective even though they were just a few. I didn’t put this video without any purpose on this article, it should make you realize that if you want something really bad and you fight for it, you achieve it, sooner or later but at the end, you achieve it! No matter what domain name you’ve got, all what matters is your good will and passion
