Think Globally, Act Locally

Think Globally, Act Locally

July 19, 2010 in Business by Olgi Zenullari

I’ve been facing this quote different times (last one on my Sociology class) and to tell the truth there might be many meanings for it however I would like to connect it with e-business (since thats my area of expertize)

Internet is one of the major factors of globalization. You can hire someone from India without the need of going out of your house. In fact this is what globalization is all about, surpassing the bureaucratic barriers and be able to do business freely from anywhere. One of my latest ventures had designers from Pakistan, coders from Israel and programmers from India and quite frankly all I knew about them was their name and email addresses

I live in a poor country (literally) where the Internet boom has just begun. Being able to surf on the internet plus knowing English has helped me quite a lot in absorbing ideas from other countries (where the Internet era has begun earlier) and applying them on my own country.

A small example, different countries surely have their own webmaster forums where they discuss various webmaster related topics in their languages however there wasn’t a well established on in Albania, hence I launched successfully Webmaster.al which nowadays is the biggest albanian webmasters community. Did I invent the wheel? Of course not, all I did was “stealing” a proven successful concept and executed on my own language and this is how I use “think globally, act locally”

Thanks to the Internet, many webmasters from third world countries have endless opportunities to actually create a profitable online venture for the below mentioned reasons:

  • Fewer Competition
  • Local Targeted Audience
  • Your Own Native Language

What successful proven ideas to launch in my country?

Go and have a look at Alexa’s Top Sites , what you will see are actually the most successful sites (hence the most visited ones). You can get some nice ideas from there. Ideas from blogging platforms to advertising networks, business directories and even niche related communities, they will all help you generate a lot of passive income in the coming years. You only have to be persistent, patient and work hard to achieve your goals

Its Good To Be First

No matter whats the population of your country, there will always be a big traffic flow which equals money in our case (unless you are unfortunate and live in Vatican City). Launch niche sites, pregnancy related forums, car addict blogs, everything in your own language. In this case you will be also be contributing for your own country by launching different well organized sites.

Don’t Work For The Sake Of Money

Do not open sites for the sole purpose of getting money. Don’t launch forums or sites in a niche where you only know that it pays well for a single click. You will lose interest quite soon hence your site will die. Thats why I recommend you to write a plan firstly and then execute it step by step.

While I was searching a cd-rom on my office I found an old business plan I had (back in 2008) where I had listed some of my ideas and domain names and almost all of them have been launched, some of them successfully and some not but hey, its worth trying rather than sit and think that it won’t work

This post can be categorized properly as motivational however it is genuinely business related so I would ask you now to start doing something now, whatever you do, if you work on it its gonna grow big enough in the coming years!

Stay Away From Bet365 Affiliate Program

Stay Away From Bet365 Affiliate Program

June 11, 2010 in Business by Olgi Zenullari

Since the world cup was coming, I thought it would be nice having my friend Tycho sign up and get the 100 % bonus so he deposited E100 and in return got E100 so he had a total E200. Now since I already had a bet365 affiliate account I thought I would be able to make some extra pocket money since they give 30 % of the net profit generated by the member betting. He bet with my help and sometimes won and sometimes lost. Since bet365 affiliate program already states that the stats get updated one day later, I wasn’t in a rush. To my surprise I wake up in the morning and I was shocked seeing nada, zilch, nul

Its Not The Domain Name Which Makes a Site Successful!

Its Not The Domain Name Which Makes a Site Successful!

May 14, 2010 in Business, Domain Names by Olgi Zenullari

I’ve been reading lately in different forums many controversial replies to a question like “What domain names would you register if you were back in 1990″. I don’t expect everyone to be a domainer and know the value of a domain name however many (if not all) of the replies were either Google.com , Yahoo.com , Facebook.com or even Twitter.com

In this article I would like to emphasize the fact that successful entrepreneurs build successful sites, despite the domain name used. It is true that a premium domain name which contains your main keyword would only bring positive impact on your rankings however with the actual social media buzz its not a big factor. Have a look at the following domain names and tell me what you see?

How a Public Site Sale Can Harm Your Reputation

How a Public Site Sale Can Harm Your Reputation

April 30, 2010 in Business by Olgi Zenullari

I’ve seen different big sites or communities that announce it in public when their site is for sale. They even add some big texts on the header of their website to attract as many visitors as possible to their auction page or to their announcement
In this article I will speak briefly how a public sale could most probably harm your reputation and make your loyal members feel disappointed

How a Public Site Sale Can Come Back As a Boomerang?

This happens especially in communities where the role of an admin (or site owner) is crucial. If you are going to sell any site you better do it as privately as possible (learn from the bigs, most of the Fortune 500 companies hire brokers to acquire other companies / businesses secretly). In a huge forum (let’s say a get paid forum) your members would feel really anxious for the future of the community, not because they love you but because they might not feel safe anymore (payments missing, site disappears etc)

Its a simple logic, in a money making site where the owner of the forum pays every member for each post, to sell the site publicly is a suicide, tons of emails , private messages and other ways of contacting until they get their hard earned cash. If you are the owner and you are actually selling a money making community, means you are either not making money or tired of that job, in both the cases you will harm your reputation and if you will ever want to re-open a similar forum you won’t have the same success

The Advantages of Public Sales

Public sales have a lot of advantages as well and one of the most important ones is without doubt, traffic! If you list your website on the top webmaster forums (at the proper buy / sell section) you are going to get a lot of traffic because people in nature are curious to see what you are selling (so they can see how you are generating profit but thats another case). Some times people post fake sale announcements just to get traffic and at the end they keep the site themselves (this is most probably the “fake it till you make it”

Win Free Domain Names

January 20, 2010 in Business by Olgi Zenullari

We all know that the domain business is a never ending business, as long as Internet will exist there will always be demand for domain names. Different companies do a lot of marketing just to get as many clients as possible. Another way of getting loyal customers is by giving them free domain names. Yes you heard it right, not even a $1 fee, its totally FREE.

If you think about it, its a nice business plan because by providing free domain names (one for each user) you:

  • Attract more visitors which can be converted to paying clients
  • You generate profit in the long run (from renewals, domain transfers and other domain related stuff)
  • You get viral traffic because when someone offers free domain names the word spreads like fire in the hoods

WinFreeDomains.com has actually done a nicer thing, its providing free domain names and in exchange you should fill up a couple of surveys. So anyone who doesn’t have a credit card or can’t afford paying for a domain name, by simply completing short surveys can have his own .COM , .NET or .INFO domain name

So its a nice payback, you complete surveys for them, they get money and in exchange they provide domain names for you at no cost at all.

I would recommend you to pay them a visit and start earning points if you want to win free domain names before its too late because this offer might soon come to an end

Make Money With Premium SMS Service

Make Money With Premium SMS Service

January 6, 2010 in Business by Olgi Zenullari

FortumoHave you ever thought of having your own premium number and getting paid every time someone sends a sms to that

number? How about doing everything online? No fees to pay, no monthly hidden fees? Everything FREE of CHARGE

and you can start making money within 5 minutes?

I would like to introduce to all my visitors a new concept which isn’t saturated at all and can make you a lot of money, believe me  a lot of money :)

Fortumo is offering a premium sms service to many countries across the globe (see Country List) where basically you can actually ask your visitors to pay (via sms) before they watch a video on your website, download a song or any other content you might have

Depending on the country and on the service type, you can get up to 60 % of the earnings (where 40 % are distributed among the mobile companies and Fortumo itself). Payments are usually made 15 days after the previous month has ended.

How Does It Work?

Fortumo offers a wide variety of services however I’m just thinking of one possible scenario. Let’s say you offer a service on your website (to watch a movie or to download a script). They have to send a SMS at a number (you choose it) like 88666 and a text FOR (your keyword here) lets say FOR VIDEO.

So whenever someone sends a sms to 88666 with the text FOR VIDEO, you earn comission at your Fortumo account. The amount you earn depends on the package you have selected while creating your campaign. You can even target countries, let’s say if you have UK traffic, you can choose UK as the country you are targeting and generate tons of cash

Sky is the limit with such an easy way of getting paid, you can offer any kind of service you are comfortable with and charge your visitors and make money!

PROMO Register at FORTUMO.com and add as your PROMO CODE OZBONUS to get 5 EURO on your account!
